Reinventing flying / Re-inventando el volar

I've been wanting to post this for a while. Given how crap air travel has become in the last few years - if already existing delays and endless security controls weren't already a hassle we've had airports grounded every two seconds thanks to two Arctic winters in Europe, strikes from almost about everyone involved in air travel and a few volcano eruptions to top it off- Air New Zealand has come to the rescue to make the 20-something hour trip from Heathrow to Kiwi-land a bit more interesting. Introducing the "spaceseat" as part of Premium Economy from April 2011, the seat will eventually spread to the rest of the fleet making comfort travel affordable to those who don't have expenses accounts in which they can toss Biz fares into. My respect.

He querido postear sobre esto desde hace tiempo. Dado lo tremendamente desastroso que volar se ha convertido en los últimos años - por si no teníamos suficiente con los retrasos y los interminables controles de seguridad hemos tenido los aeropuertos cerrados cada dos por tres gracias a dos inviernos polares en Europa, huelgas de prácticamente todo el mundo que tiene algo que ver con el negocio aéreo y un par de volcanes para redondearlo todo- Air New Zealand viene al rescate para hacer el viaje de unas veintipico horas entre Londres y las antípodas un poco más interesante. Introduciendo el "spaceseat" como parte de la clase turista premium desde Abril de 2011, el asiento acabará eventualmente en el resto de la flota haciendo posible el viajar cómodamente para todos aquellos que no tienen una cuenta de gastos en la que cargar las tarifas business. Mi respeto.

That the Aegean Sea is full of hidden gems is no news. That a good architect starts designing state-of-the-art houses that actually integrate themselves in the landscape and do not look like straight out of Scarface however, is news. And very good news.

Que el mar Egeo esté lleno de joyas escondidas no es noticia. Que un buen arquitecto empiece a diseñar casas de alto nivel que de verdad se integran en el paisaje y que no parezcan sacadas de Scarface sin embargo, sí es noticia. Y una muy buena noticia.

Out of Africa / Memorias de África

THE BIG UPDATE / LA GRAN ACTUALIZACIÓN

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone. I believe it was time I made an appearance over here: indeed the time has come when laziness has been overcome by duty. These past three months have been hectic to say the least and, if I start to count the number of countries I've set foot into, I need to use both hands. Be it for leisure or not-so-leisurely prospects fact is I've been living in Barcelona since mid-September and the place I've come to known best is the airport, apart from my b-school of course. Let's hope that changes in forthcoming months. Meanwhile I need to catch up with everything I've been doing in these past weeks and what not. So, be prepared for a wave of photo-posts.

As a starter, some pics from this autumn's hopping around in Hungary, during the CEMS Career Forum in Budapest and the USA. :)

PS. I must admit some of the photos were Facebook-raped given my lack of pictures....I guess it all comes down to having such a great time I forgot taking pictures. And, what the heck, you all know how NY looks like!

En primer lugar, feliz año nuevo a todos. Creo que iba siendo hora que apareciera por aquí: por fin llegó el momento en el que la vaguería ha sido vencida por el deber. Estos últimos tres meses han sido una locura y si me pongo a contar el número de países en los que he estado necesito las dos manos. Bien por ocio o por motivos menos ociosos, el caso es que llevo viviendo en Barcelona desde mediados de septiembre y el lugar que mejor conozco es el aeropuerto, aparte de mi universidad claro. Esperemos que eso cambie en los próximos meses. Mientras el deber llama y tengo que poner al día esto con todo lo que he hecho estas últimas semanas. Así que, preparaos para un batallón de fotografías.

De entrada, algunas fotos de mis visitas a Hungría durante el foro de empleo de CEMS en Budapest y a los EEUU. :)

PD. Debo admitir que muchas de las fotos son robadas de Facebook dada la escasez de fondos propios. Imagino que todo tiene que ver con el buen tiempo que estaba pasando y que me llevó a olvidarme de hacer fotos. Y qué diablos, todos sabéis como es NY... y si no poneros una peli de Woody Allen..!
