I'm not going to lie: I don't like golf (although to be honest I must admit I've never tried it but the whole concept of it as a sport is most unappealing) but I love golf resorts. The fact that you need a massive plot of (unbuilt) land to be able to build it and a beautiful setting in order to market it mean that they tend to be located in rather overwhelming spots.

And if that overwhelming scenario happens to be in the Mediterranean coast of Italy then the attractive doubles. Situated in the Argentario peninsula (Tuscany, Italy), Argentario Golf Resort & Spa is the kind of place you would go not to play golf nor to daze around in the spa. You go there to be there, to be a jet-setter. But a sophisticated one nonetheless, one that runs away from the obvious French Riviera villas or Dubai's Palm Jumeirahs.

Leaving that to one side though, objectively speaking waking up to the Tuscan countryside with a blue sky and the Mediterranean as background is one of the most beautiful things one can treat itself to. A well-kept spot not far from some of Italy's best kept secrets: Viterbo, Perugia, Volterra, Siena and even Rome itself. Top-notch escapes are guaranteed if you happen to leave the place (not that you will ever want to).

Needless to mention that, despite the unbearable classist atmosphere that has been implemented throughout the resort and especially in the golf club, this small resort is still a dream to be heard of. Prices have been set, of course, accordingly.

No voy a mentir: odio el golf (aunque he de admitir que nunca lo he probado, si bien la idea del mismo como deporte suena de lo menos apetecible) pero me encantan los resorts de golf. El hecho de que necesitas un buen trozo de tierra (sin urbanizar) para poder construirlo y unas vistas de infarto para poder venderlo garantizan el estar localizados en lugares de ensueño.

Y si a eso le sumas el hecho de que su situación es precisamente en la costa mediterránea italiana el atractivo se vuelve más irresistible. Situado en la península de Argentario en la Toscana italiana, el Argentario Golf Resort & Spa es la clase de sitio a la que uno no va a jugar al golf ni a vaguear en el spa. Uno va a lucirse, a estar entre la jet-set. Pero una jet-set sofisticada, que huye de los súperhoteles de lujo de Dubai o de las mansiones de la Costa Azul.

Pero dejando todo esto de lado y siendo objetivos, levantarse en mitad de la campiña toscana con un cielo azul añil y el Mediterráneo de fondo es de lo más bonito que uno puede permitirse. En resumen, un lugar con encanto que no está nada lejos de algunos de los secretos mejor guardados de "la bota": Viterbo, Perugia, Volterra, Siena e incluso Roma garantizando unas salidas culturales de gran belleza (tampoco es que uno fuese a salir mucho, pero aún así).

Por eso, a pesar del ambiente clasista (y nada agradable) que se ha intentado implementar en gran parte del resort y especialmente el campo del golf, este pequeño resort sigue siendo un sueño hecho realidad. Los precios, como es de imaginar, son acordes a dicho sueño.
